The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications has released the Indian Post Gramin Dak Seva (GDS) Recruitment 2026 notification on January 29, 2026. In this notification all eligible candidates to fill vacant posts of various posts including Branch Post Master (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), Dak Sevaks in the different offices of the Department of Posts. Educational Qualification

• Edicational Qualification for engagement of GDS is Secondary School Examination (SSE) pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in the Mathematics and English conducted by any recoginzed board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/Union Territories in India.

Age Limit

• General Category: 18 to 40 years as of the cutoff date specified in the notification.
• Age Relaxations:
  • SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
  • OBC Candidates: 3 years
  • PwD Candidates: 10 years
  • PwD + OBC: 13 years
  • PwD + SC/ST: 15 years

Dak Sevaks Selection Process

The selection process steps are given below:

• The aplicants will be shortlisted for engagement on the basis of a system generated merit list.
• The Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained/coversiton of grades/ Points and marks in secondary school examination (Class 10th) of recognized boards.
